Physical Education
Physical Education at Craigie Heights Primary School is taught by a Specialist Physical Education Teacher. Year 1 to Year 6 classes receive a 60 minute Physical Education lesson weekly. In Year 1 -3 the Physical Education curriculum focuses on Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), which include running, jumping, kicking, striking, catching, throwing, dodging and much more. These skills are then incorporated into small/modified games. For students in Year 4- 6 the program focuses on refining and combing FMS and incorporating these into modified games with an emphasis on game strategies and tactics, for instance how to gain and maintain possession in games like soccer, AFL, hockey, basketball. We aspire to support all students to develop life skills through the context of sport - with an emphasis on teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, leadership, respect and communication.
